What’s this about?
This is Peter and Maureen Scargill's Spanish website. We live in Galera in Andalusia (for clarity, that is the English spelling - Mid-Spain they spell it Andalucia and pronounce it "And-a-loo-thee-a").

We've had a home in Spain for more than 14 years and it is now our permanent base though we retain a small home in the UK.

Find out more about this by reading through the blog entries, menu-accessible pages and archives if you're interested! Welcome to Peter and Maureen's Spanish website.

The Start of a New Adventure

It all started when Maureen watched a travel program on SKY. There was a company over there selling cave homes – Spanish Inland Property Sales … sounded interesting so first opportunity we took a trip to Galera to meet Sean and Les – who were very keen to get us on-board and took us for a guided tour of various properties from completely finished to bare, untouched caves – yes, actual caves – i.e. holes in the mountains. It’s a long story but suffice it to say that we have taken the plunge and bought one. Maureen has spent endless hours on the phone learning the ropes but it helps that there are lots of people in Galera who speak English. Just as well because right now we can just about manage to ask for 2 beers and a bag of crisps – as long as the waiter answers in English. Oh, the one we bought doesn’t look like the example below – but that’s how they start. Ours already has floors, electricity, double-glazed windows and hot and cold water.
