What’s this about?
This is Peter and Maureen Scargill's Spanish website. We live in Galera in Andalusia (for clarity, that is the English spelling - Mid-Spain they spell it Andalucia and pronounce it "And-a-loo-thee-a").

We've had a home in Spain for more than 14 years and it is now our permanent base though we retain a small home in the UK.

Find out more about this by reading through the blog entries, menu-accessible pages and archives if you're interested! Welcome to Peter and Maureen's Spanish website.

The First Days of Summer

WelcomeWe’re in Spain and I’ve spent the first couple of days involved in conference meetings and tomorrow I start the holiday in earnest – with a trip to a Spanish location where they apparently made a lot of the westerns. Maureen and Fay have been taking advantage of the 38+ degrees and getting some sun – and tried out the new pool in Huescar which apparently is very nice indeed.

The one thing I did want to do was a nice panorama of the area here but for reasons beyond me the FLASH software simply isn’t playing game – so here if anyone is interested is a rather WIDE JPG file representing a 360 degree view from just above our place – on a little hilltop a minute away from here. Double-click on the image and you can see it in it’s full original glory.

Sitting outside this afternoon we were talking to a lady who we’ve spoken to via email but never met before, she popped in for a chat – she’s just gotten a place out here and we were just talking about how people talk about this but the vast bulk don’t do it – or maybe wait until it’s too late. Well, we’re here and we’re enjoying it immensely. I’ve just (I think) mastered getting cement to stick to walls – so by tomorrow I’ll either have a very nicely finished bathroom – or a building site. Time will tell.
