A Day in the Wild Old West
At last, after 2 days of wearing headphones (conference calls) I managed to get a real day of holiday. Somewhat under two hours away from Galera, near a little place called Tabernas which is just short of Almeria on the N-340 there is an old cowboy set called Mini-Hollywood, now a theme park. It is, apparently the longest established of three theme parks nearby with the the other two, Western Leone and Texas Hollywood still part-working and it is where we spent our day today.
Most of it comprises real’ish buildings that were actually used in films – and it all looks the part! From the minute you hand over your 16 Euros you feel you are part of Hollywood! It seems that over a hundred titles were at least partially filmed here!
Maureen and I with friend Fay chanced the 40 degree temperatures, armed with our bottles of water to visit the place – starting with lunch – which while not cheap – was a superb buffet as good as I’ve had anywhere – and after checking out this great theme park we went off to the adjoined zoo to see some of the furry animals – I have to say – an EXCELLENT way to spend a hot, sunny day!
More photos later – and here’s a short video I’ve put together. Meanwhile, apparently, it poured rain in much of the UK… just what you need to help the flu!
