What’s this about?
This is Peter and Maureen Scargill's Spanish website. We live in Galera in Andalusia (for clarity, that is the English spelling - Mid-Spain they spell it Andalucia and pronounce it "And-a-loo-thee-a").

We've had a home in Spain for more than 14 years and it is now our permanent base though we retain a small home in the UK.

Find out more about this by reading through the blog entries, menu-accessible pages and archives if you're interested! Welcome to Peter and Maureen's Spanish website.

A day in the life…

I wonder if being disfunctional as a courier is a worldwide phenonenon or just reserved for Spain?

Last week, UPS sent me a message to say a parcel would be delivered on Saturday. It didn’t arrive then they sent another message to say it would be delived a day later. It didn’t arrive. I contacted them on Facebook and they apologised for the mix-up – the package is held up in customs.

Meanwhile – a visit to the lakes

They said they could sort it with an NIE (personal ID) – sorted – but I pointed out that the package CLEARLY states GIFT – and it does on THEIR paperwork, so there will be no duty – so why would it be held up – and if so, why tell me it’s on it’s way when it isn’t?

Embalse De San Clemente this May

Meanwhile, good old GLS sent a message last night to say a parcel would be delivered on 20/05/2021. It arrived first thing this morning – it’s 18/05/2021 today. Better sooner than later but again, the point of the notification eludes me.

Meanwhile as we welcome the summer weather and post-Covid-lockdown freedoms and while waiting for the public to over-react and blow it this summer, we’re enjoying as much travelling about as possible complete with masks, hand-cleaner..
