What’s this about?
This is Peter and Maureen Scargill's Spanish website. We live in Galera in Andalusia (for clarity, that is the English spelling - Mid-Spain they spell it Andalucia and pronounce it "And-a-loo-thee-a").

We've had a home in Spain for more than 14 years and it is now our permanent base though we retain a small home in the UK.

Find out more about this by reading through the blog entries, menu-accessible pages and archives if you're interested! Welcome to Peter and Maureen's Spanish website.

The Winter Break

PotteryWe didn’t come expecting summer sun but it HAS been rather chilly the last week here in Galera. That hasn’t stopped us having fun however. Over the weekend we’ve had our niece and two of her friends stop with us and just dropped them back off at the bus station in Granada today.

We had a few nice nights out and done a load of repairs and the place is now in good shape. Maureen has been catching up on her TV and reading, I’ve been learning how to program the brand new Raspberry Pi 2 – which is now powerful enough to be worthy of some serious attention (endless blethering on that subject here).  Amazing what a few days of peace and quiet away from the phone and work emails can do for you.

Tomorrow we’re taking it easy – a trip to the skips and perhaps downtown for coffee and Maureen is off to see some friends in the afternoon. The temperature here in Galera is still largely down in the one-figure range but there was not a cloud in the sky today and that makes up for a lot. Red sky tonight so either there’s a farmhouse burning somewhere or we’re in for another good day tomorrow.
