What’s this about?
This is Peter and Maureen Scargill's Spanish website. We live in Galera in Andalusia (for clarity, that is the English spelling - Mid-Spain they spell it Andalucia and pronounce it "And-a-loo-thee-a").

We've had a home in Spain for more than 14 years and it is now our permanent base though we retain a small home in the UK.

Find out more about this by reading through the blog entries, menu-accessible pages and archives if you're interested! Welcome to Peter and Maureen's Spanish website.

The Rain in Spain

FadriqueYes, it IS raining – first time since we got here and probably the last. In general – it’s been around 36c mid-day most days – absolutely LOVELY in other words…  if you want to keep up with us while we’re in Spain – meanwhile we have friends looking after the house and I have my CATCAM to keep an eye on the kitties.

Last night we went down in search of friends in Galera as is common on Thursdays and we met one couple (Len and Christine) on our way down who saved us the trip to the Galera Hotel – no-one there!! So we stopped at one of the bars in town and it didn’t take too long for others to find us – a great night chatting and drinking.

potsThis morning we headed off to Puebla De Don Fadrique – a nice little town with a decent Friday market, with our neighbours – had a great time – stopped for churos and coffee. Came back to the cave this afternoon and I’ve been working since.

Well, I’ll clarify that I did SOME work, video-conferencing into the FSB in Blackpool but the latter part of the afternoon I’ve cracked some long-term issues with using temperature monitoring chips in my home control setup  – so all in all it’s been a good day.

churchI even made a break from my normal aversion to going anywhere near a church to take a look inside and take a couple of pictures – a crowd were in there doing their thing at the time.

Tonight we’re off for pizzas in Huescar (the Pizza Cave) with neighbours, tomorrow we’re meeting our Spanish neighbours and Sunday there’s another market… THEN we get to go to Gibraltar. Meanwhile enjoy the pictures all taken in Fadrique today. Click on any pic to see a larger version.
