Bedrock

First thing on Wednesday we set off with our friend Marsha down to Malaga, via Nerja. As you can see on the map below, the trip takes somewhat over 3 hours, passing via Granada and Motril.

The coast down there is marvelous and both Almunecar and Nerja are well worth a visit.  First stop on our journey was Nerja to visit the caves. Discovered by some schoolboys, this massive underground area is just amazing and though we’d been there before, this was Marsha’s first visit and she thoroughly enjoyed it.

From there we went on down into Nerja itself to one of my favourite lunch spots.. Balcon De Europa in Nerja where we had lunch at the seaside and bought some more incense.

We then headed off to our hotel in Malaga.  A strange affair, the hotel (La Terberna Del Castillo) is situated in the middle of an industrial estate – presumably to keep costs down and it certainly was not expensive.

Internally the place is beautiful and the rooms clean – if basic.  Food was good and service was excellent.

First thing Thursday morning, we headed off to the airport at Malaga to drop Marsha off before heading down to the coast to enjoy the rest of our stay.

Some of the photos I took from high up remind me of Hawaii Five-O or rather they would had the sun been a little more forthcoming.

We spent the morning wandering around taking photos and ended up on a street corner cafe before heading off home via Granada for the mandatory trip to Brico-Depot.

  I needed a new timer and some other bits and pieces as well as a getting my specs repaired and some general shopping – all of which can be done in one estate in Granada.

We arrived back early evening and after catching up with emails and wiring up timers, gave up for the night.
