What’s this about?
This is Peter and Maureen Scargill's Spanish website. We live in Galera in Andalusia (for clarity, that is the English spelling - Mid-Spain they spell it Andalucia and pronounce it "And-a-loo-thee-a").

We've had a home in Spain for more than 14 years and it is now our permanent base though we retain a small home in the UK.

Find out more about this by reading through the blog entries, menu-accessible pages and archives if you're interested! Welcome to Peter and Maureen's Spanish website.

More Visitors

This week we’ve had Norman and Alexis over to see us from the UK and today ended their short but welcome visit.

We started the day by travelling to Guadix. Despite (for once) abysmal weather back in Galera, it was nice and sunny and we had a good walk around not to mention stopping at several cafes throughout the day which without exception were excellent.

Roman dig

Mid-afternoon we dropped them off at the little-signposted airport in Granada and headed into Granada itself for some shopping at our usual Chinese store. Well, it turns out there is a BETTER one. Head into Granada from the A92 motorway (down the E902) and now on the RIGHT is a large Chinese store – and I mean LARGE. Deceptive on the outside it has everything except kitchen sinks and cheaper than some of the other stores.

So off the motorway you’re heading down to Brico Depot and Alhambra etc, you’ll see the store on the right – as usual white with a big red sign. Location is here but Google maps is out of date – I’m pretty sure it is where (street view) it says ALQUILER.

Anyway, they’re off home to the UK after meeting up with various friends – and we have a quiet few days coming up. Time to get some jobs done.
