What’s this about?
This is Peter and Maureen Scargill's Spanish website. We live in Galera in Andalusia (for clarity, that is the English spelling - Mid-Spain they spell it Andalucia and pronounce it "And-a-loo-thee-a").

We've had a home in Spain for more than 14 years and it is now our permanent base though we retain a small home in the UK.

Find out more about this by reading through the blog entries, menu-accessible pages and archives if you're interested! Welcome to Peter and Maureen's Spanish website.

Another Day, Another Coat of Paint

tmpF

Tuesday in Galera: Today we had a late start, mainly due to my overdoing the wine last night. After catching up with emails we went off to Huescar where we discovered a new Ferreteria and came back with rather large containers of paint and PVA to start the job of reconstructing the “as new” look to the walls. Maureen bought a curtain hanger and
I bought a roller extension so I can touch up the roof! With several hours of sunshine I managed to get quite a stretch of wall painted.

Then we had a couple in for coffee – they were looking at caves and we figured we could do with some tmp10new gossip, turns out we’ve already met their parents who live in the village.

In the evening, being still far too cold to sit out at night, we went off to a new (for us) pizza restaurant in Huescar and then briefly to a local bar in Galera to watch a bunch of guys with guitars.

The hot tub is still running off a fish-tank heater as it’s not been warm enough to sit on the ground and replace the electronics, something I’ll do this week – but if nothing else… this week’s tip – if you want to leave your jacussi on over the winter and save money – turn the heater off and stick in a £10 fishtank element. It won’t keep it warm but then – it won’t freeze!

My over-the-mains internet controllers proved they cannot handle varying mains voltages – one of them The laptop handling Skype and my webcam has all but given up the ghost due to a dodgy in internal fan… so that’s another replacement next time we’re over here. Seems being Mr Fixit is my new hobby.

Wednesday morning…. clear blue skies this morning. A little frost on the top of the roof but as the temperature is now heading up past 6 degrees (10.35am) that won’t last long. Could be a good day.
