What’s this about?
This is Peter and Maureen Scargill's Spanish website. We live in Galera in Andalusia (for clarity, that is the English spelling - Mid-Spain they spell it Andalucia and pronounce it "And-a-loo-thee-a").

We've had a home in Spain for more than 14 years and it is now our permanent base though we retain a small home in the UK.

Find out more about this by reading through the blog entries, menu-accessible pages and archives if you're interested! Welcome to Peter and Maureen's Spanish website.

A quiet afternoon at Emilios Bar and Cafe

Emilios bar and cafe

Not that many people out last weekend – the shops are closed Thursday and Friday as it was a bank holiday – and the weather has been atrocious for the time of year, so we settled down at one of our favourite local restaurants for coffee and tostada.

ExcerptI took the opportunity to test out the new panorama features on my fantastic Android 9 (Pie) Pocophone F1 which I’ve recently equipped with the camera App from the far more expensive Google Pixel 3 phone. What a combo.

The upgrade has significantly improved my night-vision and panorama facilities. Click on the image for a much larger version. The original is far higher res than my 4K monitor. Progress…  meanwhile we’ve been upgrading/repairing Pergola lighting – beats sitting griping about the weather (which by teatime was improving before going backwards at the weekend).

Check out this clip (right) from the original of the picture above – the bell-thing centre right in the picture above. As you can see, no pixilation at all. Eat that, Apple…

The weekend and a trip to Baza and bar El Sevilano – a lunchtime favourite for Maureen and I. And that’s about it, the weather will hopefully pick up in the next few days.
